Thurgood Marshall

Supreme Court Associate Justice Thurgood Marshall
(July 2, 1908 – January 24, 1993)

On October 2nd, 1967 Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice. Thus, this week to commemorate his historic appointment as the first African American to sit on the Supreme Court we have decided to feature him in our African American History Through Photos/Black History Scrapbook posting this week. Below you will find some of our favorite photos of Thurgood Marshall, the man best know for being the NAACP’s Chief Counsel during the historic Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka, KS. We hope you enjoy the pictures!
