The Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History recently held a presentation honoring the life and achievements of Danville, Virginia native and Virgina State University alum, Camilla Williams. Camilla Williams was an accomplished operatic soprano who was the first African-American to receive a regular contract from an American Opera Company. The museum is now in the process of developing a plan to curate many of her personal items and creating an exhibit that pays tribute to her life and legacy.
