"Three Friends" is a sculpture by the Nigerian born Nnamdi Okonkwo that currently resides at the front of Fifth Avenue on the Park, a condominium building in Harlem area of New York City. The condominium overlooks Marcus Garvey Park and is located at 120th Street and Fifth Avenue. This bronze sculpture was installed in July of 2010 and truly beautifies the front of the building and the entire area.
Located on the sculpture is a plaque that features the following words from the sculptor:
My work is about manipulation of sculptural forms to create a design that is not a literal interpretation of reality, but one that satisfies my ascetic judgement, and also expresses the deep feelings that I have for humanity, such as love, serentiy, empathy, strength, nobility, etc, attributes which I believe, are best exemplified in womanhood.
The large and abundant forms are not only aesthetically pleasing to me in their softness, simplicity, and expansiveness, but they also serve to express a monumental and larger-than-life personality.
